During the cold winter months, we use blankets and remain inside where we have to heat. What about the birds? I decided to do a search on the world wide web to find some knowledge about these little creatures that appear so fragile. I learned plenty of things and now I want to share them with you.

I learned that they don’t want us people to help them endure; just like most creatures, they could defend themselves against the harsh cold weather. Some birds migrate during the winter season to areas with warmer temperatures. Normally the birds that migrate are insect-eating and they must migrate because of the insects dormant in the winter.

The other birds that eat berries, seeds and fruits such as woodpeckers, chickadees, nuthatches, grosbeaks, finches, redpolls, crossbills, snow buntings, cardinals, waxwings, magpies, jays, ravens, crows, house sparrows, and starlings remain in the cold winter. if you want to see more tips about birds eating then click at

Birds eat continuously throughout the winter to keep up fat. They use this additional fat at night to make heat. When birds do not find a bird feeder with sunflower seeds, safflower seeds, suet or peanuts they eat berries from the trees like holly, hawthorn, crab apple, birch and older. All these threes produce small red berries that are an emergency supply of food for birds int he winter season.

If you choose to help your feathered friends this winter, give them a bird feeder. Start looking for feeders which have drain holes to keep the seeds dry after the rain or after a harsh snowy weather. In case you have an open bird feeder, keep your puppy under your porch or in a place that you know the seeds will be dry and the wind won’t blow away the seeds. Just bear in mind that open bird feeders attract rabbits and they’ll enjoy the bird’s food also.
