Good crop management depends on producing the right information to make the necessary decisions. In the past, farmers have greenhouse sensor and control systems – check the condition and adjust the settings necessary equipment to optimize plant growth.

To improve the management of the plant, a number of sensors and instruments can (and should) be used to gather information. The monitoring of growing conditions is important. Even without the automatic control of the production system, it is impossible to make the right decisions about the plant without the proper information. Temperature and relative humidity (and/or vapor pressure deficit) should be monitored at every greenhouse. 

Light levels should be examined at least periodically to ensure the covering materials that are functioning adequately, but ideally, the light level needs to be checked regularly to determine the optimal temperature management for the plant. The electrical conductivity and pH of both feed and drain the solution should be monitored in any hydroponic system.

Temperature and relative moisture sensors should be placed parallel with the growing tip of the plant. Better control also gives you a more uniform crop that costs you less to sell.
